C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S  to The Art Guild "American Traditions" Winners!

The Art Guild of Port Washington announces the opening of its first open juried competition
at the Elderfields Gallery in Manhasset.  Artists from all over Long Island submitted works
for consideration under the theme, "American Traditions."  Forty-three works of art have
been selected and will be on display from July 6, 2008 through August 2, 2008. The gallery
will be open on weekends from 1:00PM to 5:00PM and by appointment. (by calling 516.384.8181)

Howard Rose, award winning artist and teacher whose articles have been published in
numerous publications including Artist's Magazine, juried the competition and selected
the following:

The Art Guild, "American Traditions" first place winner was William Grabowski of Huntington
for his touching mixed media piece titled, "Joe's Back." 

Second place was awarded to renowned East Williston watercolorist Ruth Baderian for her painting, "Coffee and Chess."

Third place went to Liz Jorg Masi of Garden City for her stunning oil portrait, "The Patriot."

Three honorable mention awards went to Marianne Halpern of Bayside, Maurice Newstein
of Syosset and Joseph Palazzolo of Manhasset.

A Reception and Awards ceremony will be held July 13 from 3PM to 6PM at
The Art Guild's home;  Elderfields Preserve, 200 Port Washington Blvd., Manhasset,
NY 11030. Refreshments will be provided through the generosity of the
Whole Foods Market, Manhasset.

A special thank you to The Frame Shoppe of Manhasset for donating gift certificates
for our Honorable Mention winners and to Nassau County for their support.
