Palate to Palette: The Art of Food & Dining
\nOctober 7 – October 29, 2017<\/strong><\/h2>\n

CALL FOR ENTRIES<\/b> Call for entries Art Guild invites all artists, 18 years and older (high school students ages 14-18 years may enter in the student category), to submit artworks for consideration for \u201cPalate to Palette: The Art of Food and Dining\u201d a Juried Competition and Exhibition. <\/b>From sumptuous still-lifes or a single shiny apple, from casual picnics and farmers markets to elaborate thanksgiving dinners, food helps define tradition and culture, trigger memories and make new ones. Show us your favorites!<\/p>\n

Criteria <\/b>All styles from abstract to realism are welcome. All works must be original, and have been created in the last five years. The selection committee\u2019s decision is final. Works to be included in this exhibition must be available from October 2 – 29, 2017.<\/i><\/p>\n

MEDIUMS <\/b>Including but not limited to acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, collage, encaustic, etching\/prints, or sculpture with pedestal. (NO PHOTOGRAPHY, NO COPIES, REPRODUCTIONS OR GICLEES.)<\/p>\n

JUROR Susan Goetz Zwirn <\/b>is the Director and Professor of Art Education at Hofstra University.  Susan teaches courses in arts education, studio art, museums, and research on the brain and learning.  She grew up in Port Washington and is honored to have raised and educated her children there.
\nAs a painter, Susan\u2019s art encompasses the realistic and abstract in both landscape and figurative images. Her work reflects a strong sense of place and mood, having been inspired by travel as well as her local surroundings of Long Island, NY. Susan\u2019s paintings have been exhibited nationally and received many awards; much of her art can be found in personal and corporate collections in the US and abroad.
\nSusan received her undergraduate degree from Clark University and her graduate degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design and Columbia University.<\/p>\n

ENTRY FEE <\/b> Registration is required! (See below.) <\/i>Register below and pay your entry fee with your cc via paypal or<\/strong> email us your images<\/a> (with your name, title of piece, etc), download and fill out this form<\/a> and mail with your check.<\/p>\n

ENTRIES <\/b>Digital submissions of up to three (3) images via email to artshow@TheArtGuild.org <\/b>or uploaded to our website, should be  between 1 and 3MB each, and between 2,000 and 4,000 pixels on their longest side. Please name your ACTUAL IMAGE FILES as follows*:
\nartist\u2019s lastname_firstname_entrynumber_title.jpg<\/strong>
\n(ex: smith_john_1_beachsunset.jpg).  
\n*Do not use the # or other symbols in the file name. Images cannot be named “image.jpg” or “fullrender.jpg” or similar – our database overwrites these images. You must change the actual name of the file.
\nIf you email the images, you must include your name, contact information and the title, medium, value, and size in your email.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Works previously exhibited at The Art Guild Gallery will not be considered. Contact us at<\/i> 516-304-5797<\/i><\/b> or<\/i> info@<\/i><\/b>TheArtGuild.org <\/i><\/b>with any questions regarding uploading or emailing your images<\/i>.<\/p>\n

SIZE And Framing <\/b>Size, with frame, must not exceed 36\u201d on the longest side. Work should be cleanly matted and\/or framed (if appropriate), wired securely for hanging, <\/i>with the wire attached via screw eyes or D-rings to the frame, not the backboard.<\/i> <\/i><\/b>(Gallery wraps are acceptable.) No saw tooth hangers, no tape or string on the back. <\/i>Work must be labeled with the title (if any), artist\u2019s name, phone number, and email address. The Art Guild reserves the right to turn away any artwork that does not comply.<\/p>\n

FINALISTS <\/b>The Selection Committee will review all entries and notify each artist as to the acceptance of the submitted work. The Art Guild has the right, in its sole discretion, to choose which eligible entries will be accepted to be exhibited. All decisions are final. Artists whose work has been selected will be notified after September 20.<\/b><\/p>\n

Delivery of ARTWORK <\/b>Selected artwork, (ready for display), is to be delivered on the dates indicated below. Please provide a typed bio or artist statement, printed on one side of an 8.5 x 11 sheet of white paper.<\/p>\n

AWARDS <\/b>1st Place $300 \u2022 2nd Place $200 \u2022 3rd Place $100 \u2022 Honorable Mention certificates and Student Award\/s (if applicable) will be awarded, as well as a special “Chef’s Choice” award!<\/p>\n

SALES <\/b>Artwork may be sold directly by the artist with a suggested donation of 20% of the selling price from the artist to The Art Guild. Note, however, that sales may not be made at the exhibition<\/i>. All work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibit.<\/p>\n

LIABILITY & INSURANCE <\/b>The Liability Waiver on the entry form must be signed by the artist submitting images for consideration. It is the responsibility of the participating artist to insure or self-insure any work submitted for inclusion in this exhibit.<\/p>\n
