2018 Members Showcase<\/strong>
\nMay 26 \u2013 June 24<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Art Guild invites the public to view the 2018 Members Showcase Exhibit<\/strong> and enjoy the beautiful grounds of Elderfields Historic Preserve at a Garden Party Reception and Awards Ceremony on Friday June 8, 6-8 pm<\/strong>. Awards of merit and the annual Terri Shkuda Award for Broadening Creative Pursuits<\/strong> will be presented and there will be an acoustic music performance by Chris Kinnear<\/strong>. The Art Guild will also be introducing their new Executive Director, Lisa Grossman<\/strong> and awarding a scholarship to Erin Hogarty<\/strong> of Wantagh High School. The show will be on view from Saturday, May 26 through Sunday, June 24, 2018. The gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 – 5 pm (or by appointment) and is always free.<\/p>\n

JUROR OF AWARDS: Marc Josloff <\/b>is an award winning painter, photographer and art educator. He recieved his BS in advertising design and visual communication at Pratt Institute and returned there for an MS in art therapy and art education. Marc was mentored by watercolorists Mel Stabin, Irwin Greenberg and Paul Ching Bor. His painting \u201cBoy on a Scooter\u201d appeared in Northlight publication\u2019s Splash 19: Illusions in Light.<\/i> He was honored by the LI Arts Council with the \u201cArts in Education Award\u201d and also named him as one of the \u201cTop 25 Arts Advocates.\u201d He is on the board of the Hudson River Art Association and is currently represented by the Roslyn Village Gallery. www.josloffgalleries.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Lisa Grossman,<\/strong> The Art Guild\u2019s new Executive Director has lived in Port Washington for 12 years with her husband and two daughters and has been active in many organizations in the community. Most recently she was Director of Development at Residents Forward. She is treasurer of Community Synagogue and is on the Advisory Board of The Ed Foundation.<\/p>\n

The annual Terri Shkuda Award for Broadening Creative Pursuits<\/strong> will be presented to Ivan Frisch<\/strong>. Ivan was a long time member of the board and active on the Auditing and Finance Committees. Ivan was always our “voice of reason” and his steady thinking is missed. <\/p>\n

The Art Guild\u2019s annual scholarship being presented to Wantagh High School senior Erin Hogarty<\/strong> is one of three awarded in 2018. Erin is an accomplished artist who is adept in many mediums. Her artwork was awarded third place at The Art Guild\u2019s 2017 Nassau County High School Exhibition, has been in the 2016 and 2017 Long Island\u2019s Best Young Artists at The Heckscher Museum of Art, and has won awards in the 2017 and 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. She will be attending the Columbus College of Art and Design for a degree in Illustration (BFA) with a minor in Animation. Two other scholarships were awarded to seniors Rico Ford<\/strong> of Valley Stream Central High School (who will study Illustration and Set Design) and Nicolette Constantinides <\/strong>of Hicksville High School (who will be attending Farmingdale State College and hopes to pursue a BFA in Illustration with a minor in Psychology).<\/p>\n

AWARDS <\/b>1st Place $300 \u2022 2nd Place $200 \u2022 3rd Place $100 \u2022 Terri Shkuda Award \u2022 Honorable Mention certificates \u2022 Student Award (if applicable) will also be awarded.<\/p>\n

SALES <\/b>Artwork may be sold directly by the artist with a suggested donation of 20% of the selling price from the artist to The Art Guild. Note, however, that sales may not be made at the exhibition<\/i>. All work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibit.<\/p>\n
