The Art Guild invites the public to view the 2018 Members Showcase Exhibit<\/strong> and enjoy the beautiful grounds of Elderfields Historic Preserve at a Garden Party Reception and Awards Ceremony on Friday, May 31, 6-8 pm<\/strong>. Awards of merit, the annual Terri Shkuda Award for Broadening Creative Pursuits, and High School Scholarship winners\u00a0<\/strong>announced. There will also be live music. \u00a0The show will be on view from Saturday, May 25 through Sunday, June 30, 2019. The gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 \u2013 5 pm (or by appointment). The reception and gallery are always free and open to the public.\u00a0<\/p>\n

JUROR OF AWARDS: Charles A. Riley II, PhD, <\/b><\/span>Director of the Nassau County Museum of Art. Before becoming Director, Dr. Riley had a long association with the Museum as both a curator-at-large and a presenter of lectures in conjunction with the Museum\u2019s exhibitions. Dr. Riley is the author of 32 books including, The Jazz Age in France, The Art of Peter Max<\/i>, and The Saints of Modern Art<\/i>. Dr. Riley has appeared on CNN, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC and Fox News. Born and raised in Manhasset, Dr. Riley is a summa cum laude graduate of Princeton University and received his Ph.D. from The Graduate Center of CCNY. <\/span><\/p>\n

REGISTRATION AND ENTRY FEE <\/b><\/span> Pre-registration is required! (Fees on the right.) <\/i><\/span>You MUST pre-register no later than May 17.<\/strong><\/i><\/span> <\/i>Works will be accepted on a first come first served basis. <\/span>There is no jurying-in process and no need to send us your images.\u00a0(Due to space constrictions, The Art Guild may close registration before May 17, if it’s determined that the galleries will be at maximum capacity.)<\/em><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

NOTE NEW SIZE RESTRICTIONS: SIZE <\/b>WITH FRAME, MUST NOT EXCEED 24\u201d<\/b><\/span> on the longest side. <\/span>Work MUST be cleanly matted and\/or framed (if appropriate), wired securely for hanging, <\/i><\/span>with the wire attached via screw eyes or D-rings to the frame, not the backboard<\/strong>.<\/i><\/span> <\/i><\/b>(Gallery wraps are acceptable.) <\/i><\/span>No saw tooth hangers, no tape or string on the back.<\/i> <\/i><\/strong>Work must be labeled with the title, artist\u2019s name, phone number, and email address.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK <\/b><\/span>Artwork is to be delivered on the dates indicated below. <\/span>Please provide a typed bio or artist statement, printed on one side of an 8.5 x 11 sheet of white paper.<\/p>\n

AWARDS <\/b>1st Place<\/span> $300 \u2022 2nd Place<\/span> $200 \u2022 3rd Place<\/span> $100 \u2022 Terri Shkuda Award<\/span> \u2022 Honorable Mention certificates \u2022 Student Award (if applicable) will also be awarded.<\/p>\n

SALES <\/b><\/span>Artwork may be sold directly by the artist with a suggested donation of 20% of the selling price from the artist to The Art Guild. Note, however, that sales may not be made at the exhibition<\/i>. All work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibit.<\/p>\n

LIABILITY & INSURANCE <\/b><\/span>The Liability Waiver on the entry form must be signed by the artist submitting images for consideration. It is the responsibility of the participating artist to insure or self-insure any work submitted for inclusion in this exhibit.<\/p>\n
