Have you ever wanted to learn how to paint, but didn\u2019t know where to start? In this beginners painting class, students will learn the fundamentals of using acrylic paint.\u00a0<\/span>Color theory, color mixing, mediums, and composition development will be used to help create a still life painting.<\/p>\n

Additionally, all great paintings began with an idea and sketch, thus, all students need to have a sketchbook at hand to jot down ideas and sketches. After this class you will have a different outlook in painting and the way you see art.<\/p>\n

Manuel Adolfo Villalobos<\/strong> is a Fine Artist, Musician and Art Educator from Mineola, New York. He has achieved a Bachelors in Art Education from Long Island University and is also a co-founding member of the alternative hip-hop group A Side Of Darkness (A.S.O.D), where he goes under the stage name OG Manny G and has performed in NYC and Long Island.<\/p>\n

He has exhibited his art work in a number of galleries on the Island, such as; Studio 5404, Massapequa, NY, Artspace Gallery, Patchogue, NY, Mills Pond Gallery, St. James, NY, Plaza Art Gallery, Garden City, NY, Sculpture Studio & S.A.L Gallery, Brookville, NY, and The Art Guild, Flower Hill, NY. Oil Painting with Joan Stevens<\/strong>\n6 weeks: Tuesdays, January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 5, 12<\/strong>\n<\/strong><\/em>10am - 1pm<\/strong>\n$240M\/$275NM<\/strong><\/h3>\n\"\"<\/a>Whether you are a newbie or an experienced painter, this class will cover many aspects of oil painting. From the very basics of how to start  \u2013 preparing your canvas, designing your compositions and mixing colors \u2013 to demonstrations on the color palette and painting applications. \nStudents are encouraged to work from photos of paintings they admire or artists they would like to learn from as well as their own photographs or designs. With individual help in an environment of creativity and support, we will grow together in creating beautiful works of art.\n\nMaterials list below.<\/em>\n\n
\n\nJoan Stevens Bio<\/strong>: Born in Brooklyn, Joan moved to Long Island in her teens. She always had a love of drawing and painting, She works in oils but also sketches in charcoal and pencil. Joan graduated from St. John\u2019s University with a degree in Fine Art and from there went to FIT to earn a degree in illustration. She has studied with Robert Baxter, Charles Pasqualina, Howard Rose, Kim English and Peggi Kroll Roberts. Always returning to her love of figure drawing she can still be found taking life drawing classes in her home town of Long Beach. \nShe has had many jobs in the world of art including illustration, art director, photo stylist, muralist, window dresser, and face painter. Her company, Through the Looking Glass, designs and installs store windows and decorates for events at restaurants and parties. \nJoan has exhibited her work in group and solo shows throughout Long Island. Venues include The National Art League of Douglaston, Art League of Long Island, Elderfield Preserve, Adelphi University, Le Bon Amis Gallery,  Martha Clara Vineyard, and iFly Trapeze.
