WEEKLY WORKSHOP

Preparing a college portfolio can be a daunting task but required if you are applying to a visual arts college or submitting your AP® Art and Design Portfolio. Our College Portfolio Intensive will guild you through the process so that you submit strong and unique portfolio ready pieces.

In this 10-week College Portfolio Intensive, Robyn Cooper, an expert in visual arts will help students develop artwork that showcases their strengths, personality and voice. Classes are small so students will receive personal attention to tailor projects to fit their needs. The collaborative environment will  inspire students in the creative process.

What to expect? Regardless of where the student is in the process, the focus will be on creating new pieces and strengthening existing works that will form a part of a competitive portfolio.

One-on-one guidance by Visual Arts expert, Robyn Cooper, will provided in these areas:

      • Selecting and creating pieces that demonstrate your skills and accomplishments and showcase your best work and demonstrate your unique artistic voice.
      • Valuable insights and suggestions for improvement of pieces in the portfolio.
      • Organizing your pieces in a way that makes sense for your portfolio, ie. by medium, style, or theme, or chronologically.
      • Formatting and submitting (physical/digital) artwork so it’s presented in the best way.
      • (Optional) You may want to include a personal statement that explains your background, goals, and motivation for pursuing your chosen field. This can help give context to your work and provide additional insight into your personality and interests.

Create in a collaborative, stimulating environment. Students work in a interactive environment with like-minded peers and will have open studio time during and after the program at The Art Guild – giving students an inspiring place to work, receive feedback  and collaborate on their projects.

Who is this program for? This program is designed  for high school students in grades 10-12 who are applying to Art Schools as well as students students enrolled in advanced art classes looking to submit their portfolios.

What is the schedule? Classes are Mondays, 6-8:30pm. Open studio times will be available.
