Plein Air Painting at TAG
on the Elderfields Preserve
with Megan Euell
2 day workshop, Thursdays July 30 & August 6, 10-1pm
Join experienced landscape painting instructor Megan Euell on the beautiful grounds of The Art Guild to learn or improve your plein air skills. With over 15 years of plein air painting expertise, Euell will explain the entire process to help students feel comfortable and prepared to create a beautiful painting outdoors. Euell’s approach involves focusing on the primary colors to teach students about color harmony. Expect tangible guidance to improve your compositional design, your value structure, and clean, vibrant color mixing. The TAG property features many wonderful scenes-from the historic building, to mature trees and gardens, complex textures and colors- truly a plethora of options for all artists!
Euell specializes in oil painting, and students are welcome use oil paint,
water-based oil paint, or watercolors for this workshop.

Whether you are just beginning your artistic journey or looking to strengthen your drawing fundamentals, this three-session workshop will help you develop the essential skills needed to create convincing, realistic drawings.
In this three-session workshop, we will cover the following topic:
- Understanding accurate proportions and measuremen
- Training the eye to observe rather than copy
- Constructing simple and complex forms
- Understanding light, shadow, and value

Summer Bouquets

August showers us with Summer Flowers from A to Z! : Asters, Sunflowers, Cone Flowers & Daisies and more!…. Then …. Chrysanthemums, Dahlias, and Zinnas, Oh My!…..”
Lois will demonstrate through drawing, brushstrokes, color palettes & mixing how to express these flowers’ qualities. The Guild will supply some floral arrangements and also suggest that you BYOF — “Bring Your Own Flowers!!!” in vases which will allow you to take your flowers home and finish your watercolors. (FYI, bringing in flowers is optional!) Painting these Summer Bouquets will offer a joyous lesson in combining different flowers, all overflowing with the vivid vibrancy of Summer.

Discover the possibilities of Alcohol Inks with Vera Worthington in this fun-filled workshop!
During the 2.5 hour session, we will experiment with various methods of using alcohol inks such as dripping, dabbing, painting with brushes, felt application, & much more. Enjoy the endless ways in which alcohol ink defies your imagination and create beautiful abstract artwork – no art experience is necessary to enjoy the wonders of alcohol inks!

MIXED MEDIA
Creative Mosaics
with Judith Caseley
Awaken your inner artist with a Creative Mosaic Design workshop!
Transform colorful pieces of glass and ceramic tile into stunning mosaics! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of mosaic art, from choosing materials and cutting techniques to adhering tiles and grouting your masterpiece. Be prepared to have fun! Ooen to all levels
No prior experience needed! Judith will guide you through every step, providing helpful tips and tricks along the way. You’ll have the freedom to create your own unique design on a wooden panel, with ONE of the designs listed:
-a letter (your first initial or a loved one’s)
-a flower
-a heart
-a simple animal
Judith will help you draw the design on the panel, learn to cut and lay tile. You will take your mosaic home with grout and instructions. Creating Mosaics is very forgiving…no matter what you’ve created, when it’s grouted, it will be great.

Doodling Masterpieces

The most unsung form of creative art….doodling.
We’ve all done it. Like our dreams each night, doodles have emerged most naturally, from the unconscious. We don’t think very hard at all when we scribble patterns onto a random piece of paper as something supposedly “more important” is going on.
This workshop, “Doodle Masterpiece Workshop” puts your doodling on a pedestal and will undoubtedly result in a highly respectable work of art.
First you will be guided into identifying your personal doodling form and second you’ll be guided into embellishing it. You’ll want to frame it,…of course…and the next time you doodle, give it a lot of RESPECT.
