Sona Hyde

Sona Hyde

Gallery Manager

Sona Hyde has been a local Port Washington resident for the past 12 years. Before coming to The Art Guild, she spent 10 years volunteering with the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. Sona is also a freelance web designer, so in addition to her Gallery Manager responsibilities she also helps with the organization’s technology needs.

Sona’s interest in art developed after working many years in Corporate Banking. She wanted to explore her creative side and took design classes at the Parson’s School of Design and tech classes at the Chubb Institute of Technology. She started working as a web designer and eventually started freelancing.

The best part of The Art Guild is all the creativity that is constantly flowing. It is an amazing place to develop and explore your craft.

When she is not working, Sona enjoys spending time on outdoor adventures with her husband and two children.

Her love of art lies in the fiber arts as she is an avid knitter.

Lisa has been the Executive Director of The Art Guild since May 2018. Prior to joining TAG Lisa served as the Development Director at Residents Forward and Executive Director of the Parent Resource Center. Prior to her non-profit career, she was Senior Vice President Risk Management at BNP Paribas, covering hedge funds and structured products. Lisa’s Wall Street career lasted 17 years.

Lisa formerly served as the Treasurer of Sands Point Preserve and as the Treasurer of Community Synagogue, the Advisory Board member of Ed Foundation and as fundraising chair of Guggenheim Elementary School Home School Association.

After spending many years in the financial industry, I wanted to give back to my community. I minored in Studio Art in college and left that part of me behind as I was starting my career and raising young children. I am so happy to be back in the arts and offering avenues to enable artists to advance their skills and allow others to discover new talents

2021 Nassau County High School Scholarship Winners

2021 Art Scholarship

This year The Art Guild was able to offer three $1000 Art Scholarships to Nassau County High School seniors who were pursuing the visual arts. The scholarships were funded by a generous donation by Marceil and John Kazickas of The Kazickas Family Foundation.  We received 33 applications from students throughout Nassau County. Our judge was Margaret Minardi, an award-winning artist and high school art teacher, who reviewed the applications and artwork and determined the three winners.

Sean Feinberg – Long Beach High School
Andrew McIntyre – Chaminade High School
Vicky Zhang – Division High School

We wish these students good luck in all their future endeavors in the visual arts.
