Logical Perspective Workshop (Part 1) with Howard Rose, July 13

Logical Perspective Workshop (Part 1) with Howard Rose, July 13

Logical Perspective Workshop with Howard Rose
July 13 (Part 1) • 10 am – 2 pm • $60

One point, two point and three point perspective – it’s in every drawing and every design that you will create as an artist. Learning to see perspective without the complicated measurements will make it second nature in your designs and drawings. You have to get good at it to create realistic work.

Is it right or is it wrong?
If you get the basic concepts of vanishing points and understanding the idea that objects get smaller as they recede, you will get accurate perspective lines in your initial designs with minimal effort.
Don’t get discouraged by looking at YouTube videos. They will look so very complicated and – they are!
You will leave this workshop, with a clear and logical understanding of all of the basic rules of perspective. You will be able to create accurate perspective visually without measuring and getting lost in the details.
Howard will supply a 36-page Perspective Workbook that will cover everything you need to know.
Bring to class a 12-inch ruler, pencils, eraser and blank 8.5 x 11 white paper (nothing special).
Look forward to seeing you!

Duane Keiser: Two Day Workshop – Premier Coup

January 19 & 20, 2019
$375 Members/$410 Non-members

Through painting sessions, demos, and critiques, Duane Keiser will lead a challenging two-day workshop on premier coup painting. Premier coup, or “first strike,” is a painting done with the intent of finishing it in one sitting. Like Jazz, premier coup can be wonderfully improvisational while also requiring a high degree of precision and control. Duane will share his various strategies, techniques, and ways of thinking about painterly exploration of a subject within the confines of a moment.
Duane Keiser studied painting under Raymond Berry at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia and Lennart Anderson at Brooklyn College in NYC. His “A Painting a Day” blog has been written about in numerous publications, including USA Today, The New York Times and The Huffington Post. Using a makeshift easel made from a cigar box, he makes a postcard-sized painting each day and posts them to his blog where collectors can bid on them via eBay. The project is ongoing and can be seen at duanekeiser.com. He is also known for his “painted animations.” A modern take on the still life, these videos combine traditional painting, animation, and time-lapse. He has exhibited at Fischbach Gallery, Allan Stone Gallery and, most recently, the New York Academy of Art. His work resides in several corporate collections and hundreds of private collections worldwide, including the Gregory Peterson Collection. Choose, mix and paint colors that you don’t actually see
Harmonize colors and work with the color wheel or color schemes to assure that your painting holds together
If you have ever asked any or all of these questions, this workshop is for you! Patti Mollica, author of “Color Theory, an Essential Guide to Color” will be teaching the strategy behind working with color schemes and pushing color choices to the next level. If you are ready to embark upon new level of color exploration, don’t miss this workshop.
Take your understanding of color to a new level in this intensive hands-on workshop. Learn how to harness color to make dynamic, harmonious and creative color choices in your artwork. All skill levels are welcome!

Patti Mollica believes that truly great painting is not about the “subject matter,” but rather the way an artist communicates beauty, sensitivity and integrity in whatever is painted. Flowers, gardens and sunsets are no more worthy as painting subjects than a subway station full of weary commuters, or a closeup of an old rundown building with cascading fire escapes. She believes that a painter’s job is to show the viewer the inherant beauty of all subjects and scenes, most especially the ones that are not commonly thought of in an artistic light.

Although she is equally comfortable working in both oils and acrylics, she feels that the new developments in recent years to acrylics make them a perfect vehicle for infinite versatility and personal expression. This is explored and illustrated in depth in her book, “Modern Acrylics“. She has also recently authored “Color Theory” and “Getting Started in Acrylics“, available in art stores worldwide and online at Amazon.com.
