Local Color by Members of The Art Guild presented by Trapani Art and Frame. June 1 – 30, 2017. Artwork featuring local landscape or streetscape themes. Reception at Trapani Art and Frame, 440 Plandome Rd., Manhasset, June 3, 5-8 pm. 

SALES Artwork may be sold directly by TAF with a commission of 50% of the selling price from the artist. All art work submitted must be for sale. All work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibit, though purchased works may be removed at time of sale. 

LIABILITY & INSURANCE The Liability Waiver on the entry form must be signed by the artist submitting images for consideration. It is the responsibility of the participating artist to insure or self-insure any work submitted for inclusion in this exhibit.

Open to 8 students (All levels welcome.)

Six Mondays: July 10, 17, 24, 31 August 7, 14 • 4-5:15 pm
Fee:$120 Members/$150 Non-members
Materials included

Young artists will explore different materials including drawing, painting, collage, cut shapes, printmaking, constructions and more. Emphasis is on the tactile and using our imaginations. Each week we will create a special project. Students should wear a smock or old clothes.

Open to 8 students. (All levels welcome.)

6 Wednesdays: July 12, 19, 26, August 2, 9, 16  • 4-5:30 pm
Fee:$120 Members/$150 Non-members
Materials included

A class for students who are interested in creating art and approaching the creative process in a whole new way.  This class is project based with an emphasis on thinking about the “why,” “how,” and the process of the project. Projects may take multiple weeks and may include sketching, sculpture, clay, painting. printing and more, often tumbling back and forth between media as the need arises. Students should wear a smock or old clothes.

• Pre-registration is strongly recommended for all classes. In the event that a class is full, we will have a waiting list.
• Registration and placement in The Art Guild classes is on a first-come, first serve basis.
• Registration is valid only with payment in full.
• The Art Guild reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient registration. If this does occur, you will be notified and a full refund will be issued.
• Registration cancellations made two (2) or more weeks prior to the start of class will receive a full refund.
• Registration cancellations made less than two (2) weeks prior to the start of class will incur a $25 cancellation fee.
• Registration cancellations made after the 1st class of a semester will incur a 25% fee for the class and a $25 cancellation fee.
• Absolutely no refunds after the second class of a semester.
• Membership is non-refundable.
• Instructors are subject to change without notification.
• The Art Guild will be closed during inclement weather based on the decision of The Art Guild. When possible, cancelled classes will be made up during the course of the semester.
• The Art Guild may use photographs or video that include you or your children for publicity or marketing purposes unless you deny permission in writing.

BEGINNER WATERCOLOR

Ages 18-Adult, open to 8 students.
8 Week Session: Wednesdays: September 6, 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, 18, 25, 2017 • noon – 2 pm
Fee: $215 Members/$245 Non-members.

Watercolor is a truly diverse medium. Explore basic techniques of washes, learn wet on wet painting, glazing and dry brush methods. We will begin to understand the properties of pigments and when to use them properly. Watercolor is always challenging, fresh and new. No experience necessary, beginners welcome.

INTERMEDIATE WATERCOLOR

Ages 18-Adult, open to 8 students.
8 Week Session: Wednesdays: September 6, 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, 18, 25, 2017 • 9:30 am – 11:30pm
Fee: $215 Members/$245 Non-members.
Materials list available upon registration.

Continue using watercolor techniques of washes, wet on wet painting and dry brush methods. We will move beyond the basics, creating a series of more complex paintings and completing interpretations of projects presented in class. Watercolor is always challenging, fresh and new. Some experience necessary.

“AMERICA!” a Juried Competition and Exhibition. We challenge artists to celebrate the beauty and inspiration that our country offers – through still lifes, landscapes and portraits – from shining sea to your backdoor!

JUROR Howard Rose has been painting in oils since 1989. He teaches privately and at The Art League of Long Island, the National Art League in Douglaston and has given many workshops at The Art Guild. “It is an exciting journey to become an artist and see the world through an artist’s eye. I love the challenge of turning an everyday scene into a successful and exciting painting.”
