Oil Portraiture for Beginners

Learn the basics of portraiture in oils. This course will cover the anatomy of
the head, capturing a likeness, methods of creating and transferring an
image onto a canvas, mixing flesh tones, importance of lost edges, and creating
an easy, interesting background. The first few weeks we will copy a
master work, then work from a mannequin and lastly, from live models.

Watercolor II • Intermediate/Advanced

Previous knowledge of watercolor necessary. Continue using watercolor
techniques of washes, wet on wet painting and dry brush methods. We
will move beyond the basics, creating a series of more complex paintings,
completing our own interpretations of projects presented in class.

No experience necessary, beginners welcome. Watercolor is a truly diverse
medium. Explore basic techniques of washes, learn wet on wet painting,
glazing and drybrush methods. We will begin to understand the properties
of pigments and when to use them properly. Watercolor is always challenging,
fresh and new.

Zen Rendering

Ages 18-Adult, open to 8 students. All levels welcome.
4 Mondays: Mar 14, 21, 28; Apr 4 • 10:00am-12:00pm

In a relaxed and supportive atmosphere learn how to create beautiful images from repetitive pattern drawings. This art form is ideal for those experiencing “artist’s block” or the need to release the artist within. You will amaze yourself with the results. Anyone can do it. All that is needed to begin is a small sketch pad, fine marker pens, and a desire to create art. The only limits are your imagination and the paper’s edge.

Relief Printing with Linoleum Cutting

ADULT WORKSHOPS: WEEKENDS – 1-Day Workshop

Saturday, November 13 • 10:00am-3:00pm

Fee: $95 Members/$105 Non-members

Materials list available upon registration.
Create your own linoleum design incorporating various papers and other
objects to make unique works of art including cards, frameable prints, and
more. You will be encouraged to experiment and be creative in a relaxed,
supportive atmosphere.
