Something Blue Exhibit

“Something Blue” a Juried Competition and Exhibition. Is blue the color of the sky or the sea down below? Is it just a feeling or a rhythm to which you tap your toes? Come see for yourself if there’s more to blue than what you know. Show us what makes you BLUE!
JUROR FRANK PORCU Mr Porcu is an artist and teacher, known for his dynamic larger than life lectures on anatomy for art and medical students He specializes in monumental figurative works and portraiture, in the late classical Hellenistic tradition. FINALISTS The Selection Committee will review all entries and notify each artist as to the acceptance of the submitted work. The Art Guild has the right, in its sole discretion, to choose which eligible entries will be accepted to be exhibited. All decisions are final. Artists whose work has been selected will be notified after February 15.

Face & Figure – September 2-October 1

CALL FOR ENTRIES Call for entries Art Guild invites all artists, 18 years and older (high school students ages 14-18 years may enter in the student category), to submit artworks for consideration for “Face & Figure” a Juried Competition and Exhibition.
Criteria All styles from abstract to realism are welcome. All works must be original. The selection committee’s decision is final. Works to be included in this exhibition must be available from August 28 – October 1, 2017.
MEDIUMS Including but not limited to acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, collage, encaustic, etching/prints, or sculpture with pedestal. (NO PHOTOGRAPHY, NO COPIES, REPRODUCTIONS OR GICLEES.)
JUROR Diana DeSantis is a portrait painter who has studied with David Leffel and Harvey Dinnerstein. She is a master pastelist at the International Assoc. of Pastel Societies; a signature member of Pastel Society of America; a fellow of American Artist Professional League and a member of the Portrait Society of America. Her work has been published in American Artist, Artist Magazine, The Pastel Journal. Her work has been shown at the Nassau County Museum of Art; Heckscher Museum; National Arts Club, Manhattan; Salmagundi Club; and Pastel Society exhibits in France, Italy and Russia.
ENTRY FEE Registration is required! (See below.) Register below and pay your entry fee with your cc via paypal or email us your images (with your name, title of piece, etc), download and fill out this form and mail with your check.
ENTRIES Digital submissions of up to three (3) images via email to artshow@TheArtGuild.org or uploaded to our website, should be between 1 and 3MB each, and between 2,000 and 4,000 pixels on their longest side. Please name your ACTUAL IMAGE FILES as follows:
artist’s lastname_firstname_entrynumber_title.jpg
(ex: smith_john_1_beachsunset.jpg).
Do not use the # or other symbols in the file name.
If you email the images, please include your name, contact information and the title, medium, value, and size in your email.
Works previously exhibited at The Art Guild Gallery will not be considered. Contact us at 516-304-5797 or info@TheArtGuild.org with any questions regarding uploading or emailing your images.
SIZE And Framing Size, with frame, must not exceed 36” on the longest side. Work should be cleanly matted and/or framed (if appropriate), wired securely for hanging, with the wire attached via screw eyes or D-rings to the frame, not the backboard. (Gallery wraps are acceptable.) No saw tooth hangers, no tape or string on the back. Work must be labeled with the title (if any), artist’s name, phone number, and email address. The Art Guild reserves the right to turn away any artwork that does not comply.

SALES Artwork may be sold directly by the artist with a suggested donation of 20% of the selling price from the artist to The Art Guild. Note, however, that sales may not be made at the exhibition. All work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibit.
LIABILITY & INSURANCE The Liability Waiver on the entry form must be signed by the artist submitting images for consideration. It is the responsibility of the participating artist to insure or self-insure any work submitted for inclusion in this exhibit.

Visual Trick/ Visual Treat
October 1 – 30, 2016
As we enter the mystical season of Halloween, artists are invited to submit works that “trick” or “treat” us. Trick everyone with a trompe-l’oeil or treat us to some beautiful eye candy. Don’t be afraid to let your imagination conjure up something magical, supernatural or macabre!
JUROR Steve Lampasona. Steve has been teaching in NYC and Long Island for over 30 years. He was an adjunct professor at Suffolk County Community Collage and an instructor at the Nassau County Museum and the Art League of Long Island. He has exhibited in NYC at O. K. Harris and Gallery Henoch, and was represented by the Capricorn Gallery in Washington D.C. Primarily a painter, he has also done a number of corporate and residential installations combining 2 and 3 dimensional design. He opened his own school 3 1/2 years ago, The Artist’s Studio, at Chelsea Mansion, Muttontown, NY.

Landscapes, Still Lifes & Figurative Images of Other Worlds, Other Lands, Other Lives

Show us where you’ve been – near, far and far-out! Landscapes, still lifes and figurative images tell the story of our travels both real and imagined. Where have YOU been? Montauk, Maine or Mexico? The Moon or the Milky Way? We can’t wait to see your travelogue.
JUROR Paul David Elsen went to the High School of Art & Design where he studied drawing and painting under the late Irwin “Greeny” Greenberg and the noted portrait painter and book cover illustrator Max Ginsburg. After a number of career moves unrelated to art, encouraged by his wife Karmen in 2009, he once again turned his attentions to painting and drawing. Paul David has since studied with artists as diverse as Paul Bachem, Howard Rose, Marc Josloff, and Rob Silverman.
Paul has been awarded Best-In-Show Awards in exhibits at The National Art League and The Art League of Nassau County. He has been part of juried shows at The Heckscher Museum, Huntington Arts Council’s Main Street Gallery, My Gallery in Port Washington, the Art League of Long Island. Other exhibits include the Barnes Gallery in Garden City, a solo exhibit at the Colors Salon in Cold Spring Harbor, The Graphic Eye in Port Washington, the Tripani Gallery in Manhasset, and at the former Sovereign Bank in Forest Hills, Queens. Mr. Elsen has also contributed to group exhibits at the Locust Valley Library & a two-artist show with his wife Karmen Elsen at Cold Spring Harbor Library.
