CRITERIA All styles from abstract to realism are welcome. All works must be original and have been created in the last five years. References used in the creation of the submitted work must be the artist’s own, or copyright-released for use in this work. The curating committee’s decision is final.

JUROR OF AWARDS: Christine Lafuente is an American painter known for her still lifes, landscapes, and interior scenes. Characterized by a blurred and painterly realism, Lafuente’s works are created working directly from life and completed in one sitting, allowing the paint to be applied wet into wet. Born in 1968 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia and worked as an artist-in-residence at the Fleischer Art Memorial from 1997–2002. During that time, Lafuente began teaching at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia and went on to earn her MFA from Brooklyn College in 2004, where she studied under Lennart Anderson. Her works are in the collections of Princeton University, the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, and the Arco Chemical Company in Philadelphia, among others. Christine currently lives and works in Brooklyn throughout the year and spends summers painting in Maine.
