ART EXPLORATIONS

Ages 5-7, open to 8 students
8 Thursdays: Mar 17, 24, 31; Apr 7, 14, 28; May 5, 12 • 4:00-5:15pm
Fee: $160 Members/$190 Non-members, Materials included.

Young artists will explore different materials including drawing, tempera paint, collage, cut shapes, constructions and more. Emphasis is on the tactile and using our imaginations. Each week we will create a special project. Students should wear a smock or old clothes.

2011 STILL LIFE Show Prospectus

The Art Guild invites all artists, 18 years and older (high school students ages 14-18 years may enter in the student category), to submit 2D artwork of a still life executed in oil paint, pastel, ink, water based paints or mixed media for consideration for “Contemplating Still Life: The Art of Everyday Objects”, a juried art Competition and Exhibition. All work must be original and done by hand. No mechanical reproductions, Giclees or photography. The selection committee’s decision is final. Please submit your creative interpretations of still life subjects.

Works to be included in this exhibition must be available from February 15 to March 20, 2011.

“A Painter’s Paradise”

Professor Slaughter will present images that have inspired him while in
India, as well as drawings andpaintings resulting from his travels.
Original sketches and paintings will be exhibited as well.
He will discuss the metamorphic process as his smaller sketches evolve
into a larger painted composition.
