Ages 18–Adult, open to 8 students
6 Fridays: July 8, 15, 22, 29 August 5, 12 • 9:30am-12:30pm
Fee: $185M/$215NM, Materials list available upon registration
This class will focus on Realism and include drawing (accuracy, proportion,
perspective), mixing colors, color techniques and glazing. Emphasis will be
placed on working with values and using warm and cool tones to create depth.
Students will work from the still life or from large photographs of landscapes.
There will be lectures, demonstrations and homework. Our goal is to create one
high quality realistic work. Students will work at their own pace.

DRAWING AND PAINTING FOR TEENS
Ages 12–18, open to 8 students. All levels welcome.
6 Wednesdays: July 6, 13, 27; August 3, 10, 17 • 1:00-2:30pm
Fee: $120 Members/$150 Non-members, Materials included.
This class begins with choosing a subject—a landscape, still life, or portrait.
Working from photos or actual objects, studies will first be done on paper
using pencil, then colored pencil, and re-drawn onto canvas. Learn to paint
with acrylics, pastels, or watercolors.

Ages 8–12, open to 8 students. All levels welcome.

4 Tuesdays: July 5, 12, 19, 26 • 9:30-11:00am
4 Tuesdays: August 2, 9, 16, 23 • 9:30-11:00am
4 Thursdays: July 7, 14, 21, 28 • 1:00-2:30pm
4 Thursdays: August 4, 11, 18, 25 • 1:00-2:30pm
Fee for EACH 4-class session: $80 Members/$110 Non-members,
Materials included.
We will focus on drawing from a still life, doing self-portraits, learning
perspective and working from our imaginations. Students will explore
different media including pencil and charcoal and as well as color media.
We will also work with sculpture materials. Emphasis is on fundamentals
of drawing in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Students should wear old
clothes to class.

Art in the Park, Sunday June 4, 2017 – Call for Artists & Volunteers

 12th Annual ART IN THE PARK

AT HARBORFEST SUNDAY, JUNE 4, 2017 10 AM to 5 PM
Sunset Park (next to Town Dock) • lower Main Street, Port Washington

Artists may rent either a 10’x10′ space or 6′ of snow fencing for display.
Set up begins at 7:am (Details TBA). 

  • 10’x10′ space ($35) Artist may set up a tent or canopy. (Artist is responsible for tent or canopy, table,
    chairs, etc.)
  • Snow Fencing ($20) Approx 6′ of snow fencing for displaying artwork. Set-up, including “s” hooks for hanging work, chairs, tarp, etc., are the responsibility of the artist.
  • Plein Air Painting ($5) Artists are invited to draw or sketch in the park. Bring your own materials. Award-winning plein air artist Paul Bachem will be on hand to offer advice and give tips.
  • Participation in Art In The Park is open only to residents of Port Washington or those who are affiliated with the town through either employment or membership in a Port Washington or Manhasset arts group.
  • There is no rain date for this event, Should HarborFest be cancelled because of inclement weather, registration fee will not be refunded.
